Not all installed but I have had them at some point  :o :o :o ;D

Main games are Counter Strike Source, Company of Heroes, Command and Conquer 3 and just started WOW.

My main on-lne game is Call of Duty 2 as a clan player.  I also play BF2 as a solo from time to time.  Off line, I enjoy the likes of Half-Life.

Kheldar

where you play WoW Sam ? which server ?

i dont play as much now. did the big 3/4 times a week raiding molten core / blackwing lair / aq40 etc etc last year and found it was taking away my life.

or at least thats wot the wife told me ?   ::)

i used to be in a cs clan back in the days of 1.x  and would love to get back into cs now as its a online game you can enjoy in small doses unlike the life destroyer which wow can become if u let it.

offline i dont play anything really cos of wow ! but enjoy the total war series. and some civ / tycoon type of games.

be nice to get some online play versus people 1v1 or 2v2 etc in any type of game.

I have only played a bit...I play in private servers atm *shhhhhh* but if i like it ill consider buying a bit - not really a mmorpg player yet...

Ahhh 1.6 - brings back memories in fact i went from css to 1.6 for a year - then went back lol

Kheldar

cant even remember when i started cs - ie wot version it was at.

reckon it was 1.6 when i last played ?

which ver introduced that shield thingy ?

cos that one was the one after i stopped playing.

mrapoc

That be 1.6 - What was the point in that shield apart from a really funny team rush

Lance

I used to spend hours on end playing Medal of Honour competitively as part of a clan, and then progressed on to MOH:SH. Even more hours were spent playing this, including many all-nighters! Still with the same clan, we progressed on to COD and then on to COD:UO. Finally, we went on to COD 2 which we recently stopped playing competitively.

I no longer play the online games due to other commitments, which is a shame because it really was enjoyable!

yeah me to lance. and with voice comms when they came along and a proper team play ethos it was very fun.

but i also dont have the time to play as much as i did. but i'd just like to still play some online stuff now and then against people - its more fun than single player.

i must get looking into how i upgrade my CS to play, or maybe see if people play UT2004 anymore.

What was your clans name Lance?  I used to play for a MoHAA clan about 4 years ago.  They were called Totenkopf UK; TTK<>UK. We tried Clanbase competetively but found the level of cheating at the time to be awful.  We joined a UK league called Clanplanet which was run by like minded non - cheaters.  We ended up winning one of their ladders.

When CoD came along it led to the break up of the clan unfortunatly.  I then joined my current clan, [C-Ops].  A mature clan, (Old gits! Our oldest member is nearly 60, most others 30+) of CoD2 players, we dont play competetively but do play freindlies with other like minded clans.  Look in on our servers some time :-)

When we started in MOH, the clan was known as TDB - The Devils Brigade. It then progressed to <666> and for the last few years have been known as Cruelsworld.

The level of cheating in Clanbase is the same reason we stopped playing competitively as well, although we did make it to the top of the MOH:SH Tug of War ladder!

sorry to re-open old threads, but does anyone remember warcraft III?

I play a fantastic mod of that which people play through the custom games list. Its called DotA.

It now has a HUGE following and il bet is bigger than warcraft III itsself.

Its almost a kind of RTS game except rather than trying to piddle around with hundreds of troops in a big clash, you play one 'hero' of the 72 available.

Im addicted :( its very sad. If i dont play dota a couple of times a week i get cranky lol.

I would seriously recommend it to anyone (young and old), and no its not just a kiddies hideout game , thers pleanty of over 20's well into it.

Check it out on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DotA_Allstars

I also play Hidden and Dangerous 2 which is an amazing 2nd world war FPS, a little like counterstrike except the maps are on a larger scale and the games last about 1/2 hour rather than 2 minutes each lol. The game is great because you really get the feeling of being in the war film movies and you get a real feeling of satisfaction when you kill someone because you know it will help your side to victory!
Unfortunatly this game didnt take off as well as it should (and it really should have!), the reason being that it features british troops instead of american troops and apparently the americans didnt like it! D*mn them.

Kheldar

i played all of the Warcrafts, including all the expansion packs iirc.

been playing WoW since Final Beta. although just about given up.

over 20's....damn its a kids game  :P

Noreen

Civilization IV which I really enjoy. I don't play it in a warlike manner though as I'm no good at that aspect, I'm more of an explorer and builder type. It's a suitable game for an "oldie" like me.  :)

Kheldar

yeah thats like my wife who does not like the war / fighting aspect in stuff like AOE / MTW.

she prefers the tycoon games.

i'm back into MTW atm, annoying as i cannot find the Vikings expansion disc currently.

still playing some Defcon to.

Kheldar

whats civ iv like ?

tempted with it - esp if it might appeal to the wife....

seen it for under a tenner now as well  ;D

Noreen

You have to guide your civilisation from pre-history to the space-age. There are three ways of winning by conquering all the other civilisations by military means, by winning the space race by being the first civ to build a space ship (my choice) or by being more "cultured" than the other civs by achieving a specified culture score (very difficult I understand).

You have to explore and discover good places to build your cities, provide sufficient food to feed your citizens, construct buildings which will help your cities and also build up an army to defend your cities. At the same time you are researching scientific projects which will advance your empire. It is also necessary to connect your cities by road and later on rail networks. You can conduct diplomacy with or against other civs. Of course various items become available or obsolete as time passes. You are also able to specify what percentage of  your income is spent on research, culture or city expenses.

At the start you have many choices to make, what type and size of map you wish to play on, what type of land masses and climate , how fast time passes between moves, which civ and leader you wish to play and at which level you wish to play. I play at a fairly low level quite happily. There is a tutorial on the disc to get you used to the game. I believe that a new version called "Beyond the Sword" has recently come out although it's more for the war-playing people.

Noreen

I missed whatever the modify deadline is so just wanted to add that the time range is actually 4,000 BC to 2050 AD, I had to look it up. More years pass between moves earlier in the game.

Kheldar

so can you play it without any fighting ?

sounds ok to me.  and got good reviews.

:)

Noreen

In the early part of the game there are wild animals and "barbarians" that you may have to defend your people, cities and outlying farms etc against but you don't have to attack other civs if you don't choose to. At the higher game levels some other civs may be less co-operative or more aggressive.

The main forum is here and you'll find info, hints and tutorials.   http://forums.civfanatics.com/

i'd like to get back into some online FPS.

Never played that one Red.

Was an old CS hand back a long time. Along with a bit of UT of one variety or other.

I'm afraid to say that i have become addicted to EVE Online

Malc

I'm playing Football Manager 2008, waiting for Crysis to test the PC on.

mrapoc

Hellgate London is starting to catch my attention  >:D

stevie0573

At present im playing Armed Assault and Lock On but been playing Bioshock, Medal of Honor Airborne, Guildwars Nightfall and City of Heroes/Villains so many games such little time :)

I must admit i feel so let down by Hellgate London and really had high hopes for it but it plays and feels like a game 10years old, such a shame :(

Looking forward to Age of Conan, Warhammer, CoD4, Crysis and Left4Dead

Kheldar

i am mainly playing TF2   ;D ;D

plus a little CS.

just got a free 14 day trial box of City of Villains with my latest copy of PC Zone.

I'm interested in Hellgate London and Assassins Creed (due this month?)

No time anymore for mmo's.  too many months lost to WoW.

stevie0573

I never really got into TF or CS just not my type of game.

City of heroes/Villains are ok very good if you just want to kick some a** and i really like the look of assains creed

Kheldar

TF2 / CS are great as you can play for as long or as short as you want.

mmo's suck you in and dont let u out !

stevie0573

Quotemmo's suck you in and dont let u out !

Very very true, when you find one you like then wave goodbye to a life (if you had one to start with LOL)

Kheldar

if u had a life b4 the mmo you either lose the life or have to quit the mmo.

if you dont have one then you'll be in heaven as they can be very fun and so addictive.

i enjoyed my wow time but the constant pressure to raid for 4 ish hrs several times a week and do grinding in between took its toll.

Kaiser Bill

I'll play anything that isnt a 1st person......I'd love to, but they make me motion sick within 2 minutes - I really loved Brothers in Arms, but I was literally puking with a throbbing headache within 4 minutes ???

now I play silent hunter 4, C&C, Warhammer 40,000 etc

I know what you're saying, tried to play FEAR and never played more than 10 minutes before feeling sick, gave up then.

It's strange how some games, Half Life 2 and Far Cry, I could play, they were mainly outdoor environments, maybe something to do with it.

Does anyone have any remedys for motion sickness in games?

Simon

Seriously, for motion sickness in cars, ginger biscuits are very good (and no, not to cause it!).  It would be very interesting to see if they worked for PC games too.  :)

Not sure if eatings the cure, I've read about things like back lighting, or the distance from the monitor, but not yet found anything that works.
