If you play EVE on a Windows based PC DO NOT apply the latest patch, it will destroy your boot.ini file http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/12/06/eve_online_update_danger/

I have no idea what EVE is, Glenn, but thanks for the heads up. :)

Its an online only game, where thousands of people play at the sametime in a game similar to Elite

I'm not surprised I knew nothing about it then, Glenn. Is that the same Elite that Acorn used to publish for the BBC Micro?

Yep, but improved it is very loosely based on it, you can work as a lone trader or join large mining corporations sharing the profits and having added protection if you get attacked.

I tried the game for a short while, but didn't enjoy it.

I suspect the BBC version would look exceedingly primitive now, Glenn.

but you have to keep two things in mind with this

firstly:  wooo shiny new stuff!!

and secondly: this is only actually a problem if you ever turn your computer off, given your average mmo player, you could actually view this as a kind of dedication test on the part of the game makers to weed out the unworthy

Rik

Interesting perspective, Cas. :) I like shiny new stuff, but I lean more towards hifi and cameras in that respect. That then justifies buying all the stuff I need to go with them.  >:D
