Problem connecting HTC phones to pc as disc drive ?

Hi

both my wife and I are having issues connecting our HTC phones to 2 different pcs.

her HTC Hero is set in its setting to ask on connection to a pc for the type of connection you want and yet does nothing of the sort on either desktop pc ?

my HTC Desire wont connect to her pc but on mine i can select Disc option but then how do i 'see' the phone on the desktop computer ?

If you can select the Disk Drive option, it should then appear in My Computer, on XP and Vista.  Can't speak for Windows 7.

the one phone does not let me choose any option even if i have set it to Disc Drive as default.

the other says its connected as a disc drive but you cant click on a drive letter in windows explorer....
