A handy DIMM memory is linked to a flash card. In a power cut, the memory is written to the card, and restored on power up.

For that, you need a UPS. Interesting development, though.

And with an UPS hopefully there wouldn't be a loss of power!

Where this would come in useful is in a lower power state standby. Something like the hibernate feature of windows, but without the need for delay when the data is written to or read from the hard drive.

And how many UPS systems survive the whole weekend it takes for the electrician to turn up? The memory pack is mainly for systems where the rare incident of a UPS failure needs it's own backup backup system. IE, if the fault is in the power line/fuse after the UPS (such as local flooding etc).
