My connection went down about 25 minutes ago & still no sign of getting it back. I've rebooted, powered down the router (Netgear DG834G) and still no joy.

All I have right now is my smartphone & dear old Virgin Mobile's so-called 3G service (which should be re-labelled SP: snail's pace, IMO). Can anyone with a faster connection (ie: everyone else in the world!) please let me know if there are any outages? Norfolk/Suffolk border here, if that helps.

Thanks everso :)
I was cut out to be rich but got sewn up wrong.

I can't see anything on AAISP or IDNet, maybe give support a call?

Also try putting your number in here http://status.zen.co.uk/broadband/ to check for detected faults

Reya

Thanks for that number, pctech. Turns out there's a fault at Ilford which is affecting me. I'll add that page to my phone's bookmarks :)

Fortunately although my area code is listed for the Illford fault, its not affecting my connection!

Funny. I have just had a loss of connection as well, not a re-synch, LCP just went down.

Tried the above link from my phone, but my number wasn't listed as affected by anything. Mine went down at 14:21 according to the router log. Phoned support, but they didn't know of any problem in my area, so power cycled my router, now up OK again.

What was strange was that I was listening to my DAB radio, at the time my broadband went, so did my DAB signal !

Localised power cut affecting exchange and transmitter?

I had a blip this evening, but it was over in about 10 seconds.  Internet light flashed, and went red on router, then came back again.  :dunno:

Thats it, Ray, called support and they asked what company I was? Then asked if my Firewall was turned off!

All I can tell you is that IDNet are aware of the problem and to reboot your router if you are not connected.

I had the same error. ADSL to the exchange was fine but the router was reporting 'authentication error'.

My broadband is running fine, when I logged onto the router it warns me that Intranet is turned off by default but the Intranet and Internet lights are flickering like mad  :dunno:

My router logs show failed PPP negotiations throughout the night. Like others, I lost internet at 8.37am and by the time that I had got my BB out and loaded the AAISP fault page, the fault had been detected by AAISP's software. A 'soft' reset of my router has brought things back on line.

Edit:

AAISP now showing that the incident is CLOSED at 09.02am

I wish IDNet has a page like AAIPS so we could see for ourselves the issues, in house so to speak.

No connection in Sevenoaks 01732 since 0840 hrs.

Turned router off for half hour, made no difference.

Still no connection at 1040. Just tried to login into router (Netgear DG834) , CHAP authentication failed.

rgthomas

Working again now, after going to router address http://192.168.0.1 and re-doing setup wizard, entering my IDNet login details.

I don't remember ever having to do this after an outage before.

Rik

From the network status feed:

All BT ADSL circuits affecting all our cutomers and many other ISPs failed at around 8:45 this morning. The cause is unknown at present. Service resumed at about 9:00. If your router has not automatically reconected please reboot it.

BT say that around 365,000 broadband customers were affected.

Rik

I think we should organise a whip round for their electricity meter, Simon. ;)

Bit disappointed with my new Billion 7800N at not being able to reconnect, had to manually reboot it when I woke up at 11 this morning. All it did was spam this in the system log every 5 seconds:

This happened 2 months ago as well. Don't know if that MTU thing is interfering with it, but it's set at 1492 in my ADSL settings page.

The Billion doesn't seem as robust as some others when something odd happens on the line- mine said it was reconnected, the correct lights were on and it had all the correct IPv4 addresses but there was no internet connectivity! No IPv6 addresses though.

I didn't need to reboot, just a disconnect/reconnect worked for me.

Also odd- I'm on FTTC and my profile has been down in the low-to-mid 30,000's on interleaved for about a year. After BT got things sorted out, my profile was up to 38,714 and this morning I got fastpath back again.

:dunno: but :thumb:

Mine couldn't reconnect after the BT issues the other day either. My line speed increased to its max after I reconnected though, but now it's sh*t again.

Yes, I've been using it for about 6 weeks now- Billion sent me a copy to see if it had cured that odd 3 1/2 day problem of losing IPv6 (it has), but asked me to keep quiet about it.

It's 1.06e, but I'm not sure whether it's RC3 or maybe an earlier one, that may be the reason for the "keep quiet" request.

There's a bit of (unofficial) chat about it on the Billion forum in the "Test Firmware" section, I'd expect it to be released soon.

Thanks Bill , I did spot it on the forum, IPv6 has been very stable for me lately on 1.06d
