In case you haven't seen the announcement:

We will be performing some core network maintenance tomorrow. This is to install some new equipment to add further resiliance into the network. No disruption to service is planned but, as with any work of this nature, service is At Risk.

I don't get it at all, so thanks for the heads up, Rik, as I don't tend to check the website every day.

I dropped about 11 minutes ago, I assume this is related.

(Note: looks to be just a PPP drop)
CompuServe 28.8k/33.6k 1994-1998, BT 56k 1998-2001, NTL Cable 512k 2001-2004, 2x F2S 1M 2004-2008, IDNet 8M 2008 - LLU 11M 2011

Rik

Not necessarily, I haven't seen any effects yet, but then it could depend on factors I don't know about.

Gary

Things seem a bit slower than normal today...or it could be me  ;D Typical, its back to normal as soon as I type that.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Well, the ADSL never dropped so I guess it was not something at the exchange, could be a coincidence but I just assumed given the announcement something was going on. It's fine anyway. It tested the new ADSL2+ router came back up.

As I say, it's possible that there will be a rolling effect that hasn't reached me yet. While I know what's happening, I don't know the exact details of the effects.

I suspect that's symptomatic of the routing changes kicking in, Gary. I've seen a few slow patches too.

Just had a four or five minute outage.  No mail or web access.  Seems to have returned now.

Yes I got (another) drop too. Suffering a few routing glitches at the minute, might take a few moments for the computers here to catch up with what's going on I guess.

Edit: 13:11 Suddenly the routing is back.

.Griff.

Thanks for the heads up. You'd think updates like this would be emailed to each customer but that's probably too sensible.

Rik

We try to fill in the gaps, Griff.  ;) Of course, if people take the RSS feed (and I do recommend it), they will have received notification.

I was wondering why the net was slow today, glad I came here to check.

Speed is still a bit slow. Hopefully it'll pick up soon.
