If you've always wanted a BlackBerry but hate plastic and rounded corners, Porsche Design has the phone for you.

The P'9981 marks quite a striking design departure from BlackBerry's standard look.

Both the body and keyboard of the Porsche design are unique, but the revamped look is paired with standard specs - and a $2,000 price tag.

Unveiled in Dubai, the steel and leather P'9811 features a 1.2Ghz processor, NFC (near field communication) support and a 5-megapixel camera with 720p video - similar to both the Torch 9860 and Bold 9900.

The P'9981 runs the latest version of Blackberry OS 7, but customised with Porsche icons and fonts. Buyers will also receive exclusive pins to identify other P'P991 owners, who will be few in number as availability will be "restrictive".

The handset is Porsche's first foray into smartphone design. "The pure and distinctive design, coupled with authentic materials and an emphasis on the manufacturing process, perfectly match our philosophy and complement the Porsche Design product assortment," claimed Porsche Design Group CEO Dr Juergen Gessler.
