Google have recently introduced a "new look" to their Gmail/Googlemail pages.

I'm finding is a bit slow when scrolling (in FF7) and this comment is echoed by a number of other users. I find the new icons to be like something a child would have designed. The option to return to the old themes exists but I get the impression that is only temporary.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried it?

No issues here it seems, the change happened a while back, maybe empty your cache, it seems as fast to me as it was before saying that there is far more in theer now, must admit the google documents are useful in an emergency on a machine without the appropriate programs. As for the icons, they are clean and unuttered, thats fine by me. Google have unified the web pages, Gmail, Google+ and youtube to all look the same. Its a lot better than the up and coming new bbc home page and weather page, boy you can tell they had to cut funds there  :(
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

I don't use it as such but I have seen it. I don't mind the new look, I think there's room for improvement but I'm also pretty sure it's still a work in progress.

I haven't noticed any scrolling issues but they might well be browser dependent.

Most people who are complaining about scrolling issues seem to have high graphic content in the emails they are reading. I don't believe it is browser dependant.

Mail shots from people like Misco tend to have quite a few graphics embedded.

Weird, I just submitted a post into oblivion :dunno:

The gist of it was I was wonder if the lag still occurs after the content  has been fully delivered?

There's a bit of a review here:- http://www.webmonkey.com/2011/11/revamped-gmail-looks-nice-but-performs-badly/

Down the page it seems to indicate slowness with different browsers.

I use Gmail for convenience when I am travelling. I'll stick to the old interface as long as possible.

Yeah, there does appear to be an issue with the core product, I'm not sure why I'm not seeing it. I don't use it that much so maybe I just haven't encountered it yet.

Well I did check all the error logs but as there was no error to be found my technical explanation is that there's a gremlin in the works ;)

Mine was changed over ages ago, tbh i tried Safari 5.1.1 and FF 7.0.1 and if there is a difference its so minor to me as not to be worth the worry.
