I can no longer spell check from netters. When I activate it either there is no response or sometimes just a blank panel opens. Any ideas please? Works perfectly well in my email browser, Mozilla Thunderbird.

Get same problem in IE8. I preview, then spell check, which works OK.

Simon

We had this issue before, and we thought we'd cured it by disabling the WYSIWYG editor.  Can you please check in your profiles that WYSIWYG is not enabled?  Unfortunately, it's a bug with the mod that provides the smilies on the Quick Reply box, and we're currently awaiting an upgrade / official fix.

I opted for simple disable WYSIWYG, I will now test it. Still not working,, I even tried previewing first then spell checking, no good. Ah well I will have to learn to spell correctly ot you will all have to put up with my spelling errors!

You're correctly on the default setting, so it appears to be a conflict with your browser, what are you using?

I am using internet Explorer 9 with Thunderbird 8, it has worked in the past, only failing recently. this time it worked OK after doing a preview. I have hated intermittent problem ever since i started working with electronics at the age of 19.

We know that there's an issue with IE9, BB, but we (and SMF) have not yet been able too identify it, so don't have a date for a fix yet, sorry. :(

How recently did it start to fail, BB?

Coulkd try adding idnteers to your compatibility view list BB.

Tools > Compatibility View Settings

Type www.idnetters.co.uk in the box and click Add and then Close

Broadback

Simon, I think just in the last month, but cannot be certain.

pc tech, I cannot find Compatability View Settings in the tools option.

On IE9 you need to access the tools via the menu bar which is turned off by default - a single press/release of the ALT key should bring it up for you, something like ALT-T should take you straight there

Broadback

Thanks Inkblot, sadly IDNetters was already there. Now and again when I go to spell checks it opens the window, but it is blank, with the title "about blank"

If there are no spelling mistakes it appears blank in IE7, it will display if the text has a mistake.

I'm looking into this problem but I can't promise a fix. It seems that a recent IE9 update has broken compatibly with the forum code.

Cheers Inkblot, I was at work at the time and the phone rang while I was typing a response which is why I omitted that bit.
