I have my 2700 V6 set to obtain DNS information automatically and assume this means it will default to iDNet's servers.

For some reason web page connections are coming up as IP addresses only with no domain names attached; if I try to manually put in the iDNet DNS server addresses, the 2700 comes up with an error msg.  Anyone know of a way round this or are iDNet's DNS servers currently playing up?

They're fine for me, Tac. I'd have a suggestion to try for Windows, but unfortunately I can't help with a Mac, sorry.

Tac, have you got the DNS addresses entered in the network settings of the Mac, if not it may be worth adding them, this I think will then take priority over the router values.

I'm using a 2700 with Macs and can confirm the Idnet DNS servers are working fine.

They are, but I'm beginning to wonder if the problem is with Little Snitch - for the benefit of non-Mac users, it's an outgoing software firewall.  This always reported when a web page tried to connect to a domain - generally adverts, but it could also be used to block malware - but it currently only reports these as IP addresses rather than domains.  I've used Snitch for years and never experienced this, not can I see anywhere in the prefs where something could be reset.

Strange.

PS: the 2700 is running firmware 6.1.1.48.1-enh.tm

I haven't used Little Snitch, can you disable it?

If not you could try restarting the Mac in Safe Mode (hold down the shift key while booting up) and see if that disables it. You router is running the same firmware as mine.

Thanks for the advice.

Yes you can temporarily disable it but neither that nor a reboot made any difference.  However I booted up first thing this morning with no other changes and all is now back to normal.  Go figure as they say  :dunno:
