Quite often when several tabs are open and then I search, in a new tab, IE locks up. The easiest way, I have found, out of this is to switch user, though occasionally this does not work and I have to reboot. Any suggestions please?

Unfortunately it's a very common problem. Have you got any addons installed?

It's probably not the answer you want to hear but I'd strongly recommend you ditch IE and replace it with Chrome or Firefox.

Sadly I have an applications that will not run under Chrome, otherwise I like it. I will have a good look at Firefox, in the past I have used Seemonky, but the application does not run under that either.

Have you considered using this Chrome addon? https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hehijbfgiekmjfkfjpbkbammjbdenadd

Not sure if it would work with your application but it probably wouldn't hurt to try.

I found IE9 to be a bit of a pain actually. Have you tried reverting to IE8? It certainly sorted out numerous probs for me.
NB: Am using win 7 64bit.

when I get that problem I press Ctrl-Alt-Del and go into task manager and stop IE9 from there.  When you restart it everything works ok.

But it should't be happening at all should it???

Am sure a service pack is in the works.

I could not get Java working after I installed IE9. Googled to see if anyone else had probs .... confirmed! One of the main reasons I reverted to IE8.

This is probably the wrong place to post this but it is to do with my problem. I have decided to use Firefox, however that is taking a bit of setting up. The problem I have now is that I cannot log into IDNetters. I though I had my password saved, but it seems not. So I decided to go down the lost password route, the problem no is that it does not recognise my email address and name as correct. Puzzled.

So how did you make your post? You were clearly logged in according to your profile. :dunno:

Your password is saved by the browser and/or cookie, these need to be re-established for Firefox. Your email address appears to be valid.

Thanks all for your help, especially Rik for sorting out mu password problem, I have now changed it and saved it! I am now ploughing through setting up Firefox exactly to my taste. It seems to me the older I get the steeper the learning curve!
