Noise margin

Tonight I have been running Routerstats on my line for about 1 hour. Normally my line sync's at 9db dropping to 6db after a few hours and just sits there all day long, but tonight I'm getting massive noise spikes, so far the largest is 3600db.

The router DG834G v2 has had no loss of sync for the past 10 days and is connected at a normal speed for my line 2656Kbs

Any ideas?

That is an amazing set of stats

The received or downstream snr is the one that causes the line drop with spikes like that.

Those spikes are electrical interference from somewhere,you need to eliminate house wiring and dsl/phone connection.Do you have the TEST Socket type master phone connection?If so can you plug your router direct to that and see if the stats change.

What does the phone line sound like,any noise there?Dial 17070 and follow the instructions for the quiet line test.
Do this from the test socket to eliminate all house cicuits and dsl router.If noisy speak to BT if quiet start looking at your wiring.

Has anything been moved/changed in the house?

You also have interference on the transmit side ,those figures are very odd indeed,the other thing to try is another router,can you borrow one to see if that is reporting the same sort of stats?

I just did the quite line check and all is fine, the router is not dropping the connection, Nothing electrical has been added been added in the house for a few months now

All that is in the router log over the past 10 days is the router connecting to a time server, no other errors.

I can try my old router, if I can remember where I put it

I forgot to add the line is an engineer install not a wires only, so no separate filters on each socket

After trying the test socket which was OK, all seems normal again

not in the past month or so, I'll test it again tonight around the same time to see if it is related to the time of day

I get a similar problem, with periodic bursts of noise - often on a Sunday. I've eliminated my internal wiring, so I conclude that someone has some very electrically noisy equipment. Only thing I can't work out is who and where...
