FTTC Exchange Active

Just a simplish Question:

My Exchange (Bradwell Abbey) has had FTTC active for a while now, yet i don't seem to be able to get FTTC is there any reason for this?

Maybe your cabinet hasn't been upgraded.

Either your PCP cabinet was upgraded or you're connected directly to the exchange.

Failing that it could just be an error on the database.

It has no mention of FTTC, however does mention that multicast services may be available whatever that is? I guess not FTTC

Certain parts on that exchange (which I'm on too) are getting FTTC and some are getting FTTP, where abouts in MK are you roughly?

I'm in the centre but I guess from the report there is no way of known if and when ill get any fibre

I think BT may have done some trials recently of an exchange fibre equivalent but sorry I can't find the reference. I know VDSL equipment is not allowed in the exchange it's just too noisy.

Mighyt be worth asking your local councillor (I'm in the Shenleys) as it seems to be something they are passionate to campaign for.

I know ours was positibely overflowing about FTTP in the Shenleys and FTTC in Furzton in his last newsletter which was of course all thanks to his tireless campaigning.

I've just had a thought, although i am geographically close-ish to the exchange ~1.5km, i think my line must be very long and using a direct connection to the exchange and no cabinet as my attenuation is ~ 56db which i think the max it can be is ~60 for adsl2+. This i guess would suggest BT would have to do alot of work for small number of people relatively

The adsl2+ attentuation obviously is a measure of the distance to the exchange I think you'd be unlucky not to have a cabinet in between, but why that's currently not fibre enabled only BT will know. Normally it's the short lines that are connected directly to the exchange.

Indeed the furthest I think anyone has ever said they are from the cabinet is about 600m so to be more than double that without one would be unlikely.
