Hi

I have a D-Link 2640R which has been very reliable and always syncs at the maximum speed. So far so good. I have noticed though, that the web interface stops working - the router carries on for weeks on end, but you can't log in to the web management interface.

So I thought I'd see if there was new firmware, and indeed there is - 1.11. The problem is that when you download the .zip, there are two files in it, rather than one - a small .dat file and a larger one that I guess contains the f/w. The router refuses to flash the larger file. The earlier firmware (1.06) just contains one file.

Anyone got this router and ever flashed the later f/w? Where am I going wrong?

A quick google  ,if this router was previously provided by another ISP i.e. TalkTalk they've either locked the firmware or an upgrade attempt fails.

The last post suggests changing the file extension to the one expected prior to upload. I think you need to delve deeper I would hate you to 'brick' the router.

With regard the web interface issue I have a problem with the Billion 7800N and Safari only solved by a router reboot or using another browser in the meantime  i.e. FF which usually solves the problem

Thanks Steve

Yes, TalkTalk seem to be all over this router on Google, but this one is a plain, vanilla version with ver 1.06 firmware. And the web interface has crashed already - I only rebooted it a couple of hours ago.

It's not the same size as the original firmware either

You've been and had a look? Thanks. I'm not going mad, am I? There's something not right about 1.11...
