Happy New Year everybody.
Here's this month's question for you. ;)
This is the situation so far. Swayed by advertising nonsense, when I upgraded my HDD I chose WD Green drives, thinking that if I was not a gamer there would not be too much of a hit on performance.
Unfortunately, the fact that my mobo is only SATA2 and the advertising was telling me porkies, I now have to invest in a 7200rpm drive, which will likely be WD Caviar Black 1TB.
So, using Acronis, I can clone my existing "green" system drive to the new 7200 drive, remove the green one (temporarily) and boot from the Caviar black which will then remain the system drive. I can use the redundant green one for storage.
All this is, I believe fairly straightforward. You can even do it from the WD Free Acronis version.
But...
In order to speed up my ESET A/V scanning, if I want the new system drive to be partitioned (maybe 50/50 or even 40/60%) so as to have OS, Drivers & programs on "C" and data on the other "half" how can I go about it?
Both the new HDD and the green one are 1Tb, but I seem to recall there being issues if you are trying to clone from a larger to a smaller volume, even if the smaller volume has sufficient space.
Any pointers would be really appreciated
