hey all

i've been with orange for like 12-13yrs.  not altered stuff around much, i tend to just leave it alone running along in the background paying bills by direct debit.

the wife is more of a looker and changer and is telling me i use far too much internet on my phone and should move to 3.

i have noticed that i am paying quite bit extra per month cos of my data usage and my 500mb limit which i always exceed. i cant find a lot on orange to indicate they offer unlimited data.

where as on 3 she says you get this all you can eat data.

anyone got recommendations for a provider which is good for wanting a high data/internet allowance ? looking for more than 1 gb per month.  txts are and phone minutes are not important.  its the data i get through.

Just about anyone will be better than me for helping you here, but Simon seems to have a good deal  with O2.

FWIW I used a free download to check my usage over a month then it found a better deal for me (no selling) its entirely up to you but I did save £23 a month and ended up on a much better deal
I had it running for ages and it monitored my calls since changing no unwanted reminders or anything being a light user with the phone it proved worthwhile for me
Many hammer all over the wall and believe that with each blow they hit the nail on the head.

The deal I have with O2 is a good one, but I've had it for about 4 years now, and I don't think you can get uncapped data deals with them any more, certainly not without paying mega money.  I have no experience with other providers.

Call Orange and tell them you want your PAC code as you want to move to 3, you will then get put through to their disconnections department, tell them why you are leaving and i'm sure they will match or beat what 3 are offering. Don't speak to the normal sales people as they don't seem to have the authority to price match or offer discounts.

I've done this a number of times and they have always offered discounts or free handsets.

Simon

I agree, you can sometimes get good deals from fhe retentions dept by threatening to leave.

Three are best for data but their customer service is a nightmare.

It becomes particularly hard if you want to port out at some future time or cancel, several people I know have been on the phone for over two hours trying to get a PAC out of them and sometimes it has taken several attempts as desparate Indian call centre staff do and promise you everything and do anything and everything bar what you've asked for.

People have even sent letters by recorded delivery to cancel contracts, these get forwarded to customer services and you end up with the above or just get ignored.

If you cancel the DD they will put debt collectors onto you.

I was also a former moderator on a mobile phone forum and three used to receive the lion's share of complaints and it seemed to be either around customer service generally or cancellations.

Please Please Please don't do it!!!
