The BTw checker has been updated today to take into effect 17a (80/20) and now gives updated FTTC speed estimates.

Can I assume that the max it will show at present is 40 downstream?

Correct. I assume once phase 2 of the trial starts to gather information they'll update the checker again for a more accurate downstream estimate.

Steve

Mines gone up from 33 to 40 in the checker, whether that's because of the profile change to 17a or the fact that I get 40 I'm not sure.

Wow, what a hard to read page. "Our test also ... Our test also ... Our test also ...". If I made a web page like that my boss would shoot me.

Anyway, 40/20 estimation for here. I'm hoping for a little more than 40Mbit down as I currently get ~38/8 from the 40/10 service.

I'm seeing 40/20 from the results of the updated checker too. Obviously expecting more than 40 down given I'm pretty close to my cabinets. When can we opt to switch onto these new speeds?

Glenn

No idea at the moment David, the 2nd phase trail starts on 6th Feb I believe, but I don't know when BT expect to make it generally available or what the pricing will be.

For clarification, can any ISP that offers FTTC wholesale from BT put customers onto the phase 2 trial? Can they be at any exchange, rather than those that were on the limited number of exchanges that phase 1 encompassed? That was my understanding. :)

David

40/20 here by the 31st of March  ;D I can see the cabinet from my front door I am guessing this is a good thing  :dunno:

You are assuming you connect to that cabinet though.
