Hi people,

since the email server crash of 2012, my mail has been a bit odd. Outlook times out trying to download messages, can't navigate etc. It works through my iphone and through the webmail version. It just seems strange that something that worked for years suddenly stopped working properly a couple of weeks ago and does not seemed to have returned to normal service.

Are there some new settings that i need to use? I checked with my idnet settings (customer logon) and everything seems okay. I mean, it's not saying anything like "the IMAP server connection will only provide 2k of data per hour due to bizarre security restrictions" or anything that would help explain it.

Any suggestions would be really greatly appreciated. Total email chaos at the moment  :-\

Others that have had similar issues have had their IP changed, which seem to have resolved the problem, see http://www.idnetters.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,28210.msg669086.html#msg669086

I think probably less than 10 had this issue, certainly those who requested a change of static IP address found the problem to be resolved.

thanks guys. I shall make contact on Monday and request a new IP (although it doesn't make any sense for that to be the problem unless they are blocking / restricting the performance of their own allocated IP range to their email servers! A strange cure indeed. A bit like changing a fuse on your plug when the satellite signal stops working from Sky!).

Steve

I don't think it makes sense to them either but it works.

The only common denominator that we could find was that it only affected some Windows setups so maybe it was some weird combination of OS + Outlook + Second Tuesday update...

Steve

But a change of IP address instantly cured my OS X Lion, Mail 5.2 and mail.idnet.com slow performance issue.
