my son says he has recently been getting a message on his laptop saying the battery needs replacing  :dunno:

Ive never seen this before  is it normal

.Griff.

It's a Windows 7 message and has caused some debate.

Most modern laptop batteries have their own eeprom which monitors such things as charge status, power cycles and so on. It appears that there's a bug in Windows 7 control and power interface that misreads this eeprom and falsely tells the user the battery is about to die.

ah  sounds like windows  >:(

is it fixable Griff do you know or will the battery actually be on the way out.its an Asus laptop about 2years old and yes windows 7

Glenn

How long does the laptop run on a full charge?

As Gleen said, how long does it last on a full charge? Mine lasts about 3 hours with constant use or about 6 hours on idle.

Baz

minimum 3 hours depending what hes doing on it.when he got the message it lasted less than 1 hour.
