I use System Restore with a great deal of caution. I've seen it remove files and folders from the desktop so I'd be wary about using it other than for serious problems and even then I'd be inclined to do a backup first.

It does seem to have a habit of screwing up the desktop, doesn't it, Rob. OTOH, in a crisis, it might just recover a system, albeit with a slightly messy desktop. In an ideal world, everyone would use something like Acronis True Image regularly.
