Acronis to the rescue again

Well Acronis True Image paid for itself and got me out of the deep and smelly this morning, after switching on my Desktop PC  and being greeted by the following message as soon as Windows start to boot: -

"Operation has failed please insert recovery CD or any other boot media and boot your PC", and no way I could get into Windows.

So in went the Acronis recovery disk and an install of my latest Image and all was back to normal within a couple of hours with a fully working Windows system again.

Congratulations, Ray. When these things happen, having something like TI around to put it all back together makes like a lot easier.

Any idea what caused the problem?

Not sure Rik, but have sneaking suspicion it was something to do with Paragon Partition Manager, I was trying to split my backup drive into 2 partitions yesterday evening but PPM kept telling me the drive was in use and it couldn't carry out the operation. I think PPM may have set something up to run on rebooting and made a mess of it possibly.

The PC certainly seems ok since the image restore and has been rebooted several times with no problem.

Why did Norton kill off Partitiom Magic never ever had any problems with that

Your theory sounds good to me, Ray. I agree on Partition Manager too, used it for years and never had any problems with it.
