I've finally decided to get a new iPad which comes Monday. Decided to keep my iPhone 4 for a further 12 months and drop it to a sim only contract meaning that the saving can be put towards the iPad contract.

Vodafone a doing a deal for existing customers where you can get the 16gb model for £69 up front cost, and then £32 a month for two years for 2gb data and 1gb wifi. Only works out as a £10 or so saving over the two years over what is available to new customers, but the low upfront cost was appealing to me. The data allowance is a bit stingy compared to some others, but should still be enough for me!

Enjoy. I'm getting more use out of my iPad than I expected to.

Nice one, Lance!  I guess we should expect the iPhone 5 this summer.

October is the rumoured date.

I had a play with one on Wednesday afternoon, certainly it's quicker than mine, the screen resolution is superior and I miss the photo editing opportunities in the new iPad. However I  came away thinking I don't need to change just yet, probably because I'm getting more use out the 4S than 3GS.

I think you'll enjoy it, it really is a convenient multipurpose piece of equipment.

I was thinking about an iPad 2 last October time but wasn't all that impressed with the screen after becoming used to a retina display on the iPhone. As that was one consistent rumour I decided to sit it.

I can see myself and my wife possibly moving away from laptops in a couple of years to a couple of iPads and one decent desktop.

That is certainly the way I'm heading. My wife through uses her laptop for a lot of her work requiring powerpoint so I can't see her making the change.
