I'd also taken the liberty of setting up a BQM to it earlier in the day- not good:
Never mind... I suspect the server thought it was a DoS attack and stopped answering :red:

I've deleted it.

At this very moment, it seems to be working normally.

BT didn't donate the server that used to run the speedtest did they?

Baz

Bill

Not noticed any slowdown here. Yet :fingers:

It is indeed somewhat erratic.

I'd say either the server is dying on it's arse, or one other site is using something that pulls in information that puts the server under massive load. Completely different scenario, but in my old counterstrike admin days, we used to see this happen when something was compiled incorrectly when building stats packages that linked to AMX mod on the servers.

Do you have cPanel access? you should be able to see the server load if its enabled for your account.

URL should be something like : urdomain.com:port#/frontend/x3/status.html

If the load is low when the server is responding slow then its most likely a hardware issue, if its high, then its something using a lot of resources on the server.

A server should really stay below 2 on the load, mines slightly high now as a backup restore is running.
But on a shared server you would expect to see it go above 2 often.

Simon

It's currently showing as: 10.49 (2 cpus) with a red exclamation mark beside it, so there's obviously something wrong.

Steve

I think it's safe to assume that one or other websites  on the same hardware as the forum is at times consuming a significant proportion of the available resources ie a bleeding parasite.

pctech

I'll buy a spare Raspberry PI, put the forum software on it and send it to Simon Davies and ask him to put it on top of one their servers in a rack with just a network and power connection.

Problem solved.

I bet even putting it on a small celeron box would be an improvement.

Simon

A small cereal box would be an improvement at times!  I could count corn flakes while waiting for the forum to load.  ::)

I actually thought my post didn't make it here as the forum timed out when I posted my last comment :D
