Windows 7 - Grrrrrr

Hello everybody
laptop is giving me "Plugged in, not charging" error. I did a Google and came up with this http://jeffreypalermo.com/blog/plugged-in-not-charging-windows-7-solution/ and it does do the trick.
However, as one of the threads pointed out, the "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" does return as soon as you reboot.
Allthough it is now charging with the Microsoft thingy back in place, it will likely return. (This is the second time I've had to do this fix in as many weeks).
I just cant understand why MSoft does not fix these irritations.

Has anybody come across this issue and is there a fix?

Sorry, XP luddite here, but I'm sure others will help.

I rebuilt an old machine with XP because my Creative Soundblaster Drivers were absolutely disgusting on W7.
I have to admit, I wish I'd stuck with XP. Call me old fashioned, but the OS actually worked. There seems to be soooo many bugs and inconsistencies in W7, even the basics are not right.
For example, you move a file in windows explorer, and the entry does not disappear. It loks like you've not actually moved it until you click on it and it tells you its not available.
How can something THAT simple still be proving difficult?

I've just acquired the same issue. I'm guessing it has something to do with the 13 updates which arrived today (not 23 as mentioned in another thread)?

Looking forward to someone posting a simple permanent cure!

I'm not hastening to try this because of the variable experiences quoted in the thread. Hoping bolder spirits than mine will report first - but I'll certainly give it a whirl later if not.

If you Google 'plugged in not charging', that should also bring up a couple of YouTube videos on the subject.  Seems quite common.

Well I'm going to tempt fate now and say that I've been using W7 since it was released and I've never seen this problem on my old Acer laptop or my current HP laptop.

Can't comment as not used Win 7 on a laptop.

Prematurely alarmed by this one. Unplugged mains and ran battery down to 8%. Plugged in again and it charges up OK
