thanks Steve.

just checking before I buy a new router

Baz

ok my new router came today and just going through it now but have a few teething probs so to speak.

I decided to stay with Netgear as ive never had any bother with them and I went for this one http://www.netgear.co.uk/home/products/wirelessrouters/high-performance/WNDR3700.aspx#

so, got it set up no bother at all but when logging out of the set up pages if I go to login again it is taking me straight to the set up with out asking for user name and password.its as if I havent been logged out properly.

it is a dual band router but all my laptops at home dont see both bands when setting up wireless, only the Mac picked up both.

Baz

what is IDNet connection type.the router picked up as PPPoE but my saved settings from old router were PPPoA

I'm pretty certain that router has no modem. So it will not work on an adsl/adsl2+ connection. Your choices- take it back, buy an adsl2+ modem i.e. draytek 120 or stick it in cupboard until you get FTTC.

The Netgears with a modem are DGND 3300 and DGND 3700 or the DGN series.

Steve

Well that one will work and it's PPPOA that you require but sometimes it doesn't seem to matter which doesn't make sense at all.

seems to be working ok.

Steve

If it's working I'd leave it , you can play around later if you wish.
