My new One X on 3 has simply been saying No Service all day.

No service for calls or data.

Looking at their site I cant seem to find any place where it tells you of any know network issues for a geographical area.

Am i missing it ? Anyone know where to find out this type of info ?

Dunno, but my iphone 4s is on 3 and I've had a signal all day in Wrexham.

Has anyone been able to find out whether (and where) 3 posts details of mast outages?  I had No Service in my area last Friday, and I reported the problem to 3. They have just got back to me with a lengthy reply asking me to run tests on my phone when I made it clear that all I wanted to know was whether there was ongoing work on my local 3 transmitter mast? Fortunately, normal service was resumed on Saturday.

No help to you, but I've also had network issues, but with O2, namely, no 3G in half of the town, where it used to be a good signal.  Was told over a week ago that they were working on a mast, then was told on Thursday that the fix ETA was 5-6 hours.  Still down today.  >:(

Interesting. We have two contracts with Tesco Mobile which I believe runs on the O2 network and we've had similar issues for the last week or two but we are in North London.

At least O2 have an online status checker: I haven't found anything similar on the 3 website. I may give my local 3 store a call.

The network monitoring is done from within the office I work in, but the friendly tech I know now works shifts. PM me your postcode and I'll email him to see what the issue is/was. I know they use a program called "service checker" but it's not publicly available.

Well, the O2 online status checker is pretty useless.  It comes up with ongoing issues nowhere near me, and when I put in my post code in, nothing happens.  ::)

I've had the situation before where Vodafone have denied any issues on my personal contract, but issues were known about and being worked on as per the information given to my employer whose contract is with Vodafone ( for 3,000 lines and counting!).

Do you have a URL for that?  I'm on O2 and have been having loss of signal issues lately.  Mind you it's never been very good in the first place and makes me wonder whether to move to 3

My guess is this one - http://status.o2.co.uk/

Thanks Steve, that's the one.  Apparently everything is working fine, although my signal keeps vanishing.  Like I said it was never particularly good, but it seems to have markedly deteriorated recently.

You don't happen to know anywhere that enables you to check the location of masts in your area do you?

[EDIT]  Just found one thanks  http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/search

Right, I'm now officially pissed off with O2.  After waiting over 8 minutes in a queue to be answered, I finally got through to a girl to ask why my 3G signal was STILL down, after two promises that the issue was being worked on.  She went away and put me on hold for another 6 minutes, while she spoke to the network team.  When she came back, she was just about to tell me what they said, and the f***ing call dropped!!

is that the fault they claim was fixed at 5pm yesterday?

I don't know, Steve.  There was no fault in my area listed on their status page.

Didn't/don't/do O2 use "3" networks when their own is unavailable (mast sharing etc) or when you use O2 3G services? Might be why it effects both.
[Oh, wiki has the answer]
Until 2006, O2[43] operated this service for Three customers.

So I got it back to front, and it ended in 06 anyhow. :P
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Glenn

O2 have started to share with Vodafone, Three up until 2009 never shared their network, but did have a 2G peering agreement first with O2 then Orange, I believe Three are now 3G only (or very close to it).

Still no 3G in part of the town here, but fine in other parts.  Of course, the part I work in is the part with the down mast.  :(  I wonder if it's to do with the switch to sharing with Vodafone, but if that's the case, why am I told it's marked as an 'unplanned outage'?  :dunno:

Just had a very nice man from India on the phone to tell me that I can check coverage in my area on the 3 website. When I said 'that's great when buying a phone and looking for a provider but not that great when a customer wants to check when a mast is not functioning' he went very quiet. What he doesn't know is that my local 3 Store told me that they would be happy to check for any outages if I experience any further issues. They confirmed that customers do not have online access to mast information but they do and they are happy to help. They also gave me a free sim card when I mentioned that my IPhone's My Number had not updated after porting. This was good of them as the problem is of Apple's making.
