Billion 7800n EWAN max speed

So I've been reading more about the Billion 7800n, trying to understand all of the options the router has and come across a max speed for the EWAN port.

The EWAN port has a max speed around 62Mbps.

So for anyone using this router and has the full 80Mbps sync and getting lower throughput. This might be your problem?

But this is information on the internet and it would be good to see what you can actually get with this router.

Does anyone use this router on FTTC 80/20 and have full sync? and can post a speedtest?

I don't get full sync (profile is ~70Mbps), but it'll go faster than 62.5Mbps:

After next Friday, hopefully I'll be able to let you know. I got my 7800n up and running last night and have BT coming to install FTTC next Friday.

Well after more reading it seems to be caused if you have QoS enabled.

Some people are reporting it cuts the throughput alot, sometimes >20Mbps

Why would QoS do that

never did it on my netgear

Only a couple of hundred meters Paul, but I seem to have a good quality line at the moment so I'm hopeful for a high sync.

QoS keeps the processor very busy, presumably it could do with a bit more muscle.

From odd comments over on tbb, the OpenReach modem (the Huawei one) does the same, only more so, if you hack it to unlock its router capabilities.

This came up elsewhere, so I did a bit of hunting on the Billion forum.

Several people have reported a similar problem, but it doesn't seem to be the router that's causing it, though how the user has set it up may be. One member (don't know his background) did some fairly comprehensive tests and came up with speeds >90Mbps.
