Unfortunately they appear to have forgotten that I should be on 80/20 not 40/2

The 80/20 setting is done at the cabinet - you should have told the engineer when you saw the sync was capped.

The router shows the profile as 17a, so you should already be on 80/20.

It does look like you have been capped to 40/20, give support a call on Monday if nothing changes over the weekend.

Profile change is done by a few keystrokes from the BTo offices.

Tad disappointed in the up speed, BT wholesale checker reckoned 58/20. The cab is literally just across the road 20m
However he did warn me that the FTTC is not very good in my area

FB. What are your max attainable rates? When I changed to FTTC, I also had a restricted upstream speed which bore no relation to the max attainable speed in the router log (32000) or IP (20). I carried out a factory re-set on my 7390 and everything is now fine. I have max speeds of 100000/32000 and IPs of 77.43/20 on a 80/20 17a profile.

Morning Ardua, check out screeny for my attainable throughput

The engineer did say it was 40/2 before I stuck the Fritz on it so I don't think a factory reset is going to cure it

I had much the same. The account page matched what was on the engineer's meter. A BT Speedtest also showed that IP profiles were as I would have expected. If I remember correctly after DSL training, the upstream speed shown in the log was about 50% of what I would have expected. Turning the router off overnight changed nothing. It was only after a factory reset that the upstream connected at the correct rate after a period of DSL training. It may of course just have been a coincidence.

He's going to sort out the upload to 10 on Monday, another BT cockup as he would have never asked them to stick me on 2. If that then doesn't work I will try the factory reset. Don't want to mess with it too much

Then when that's sorted I will probably stick with the 40/10 as I'm on an unlimited, low contention non throttled or shaped business connection. I've promised not to hammer it

There's a couple different caps ISP's have.

40/2
40/20
80/10
80/20

It does look like you are on 40/2 capped profile.

If you are only 20m away from the cab you should get full 80/20 speeds (if you've signed up for that).

But if you can't get full speeds on that distance then BT must take your phone line around your area a few times before connecting to the cab

58/20 is speeds for a line roughly 500-550m away from the cab.

It was originally supposed to be 80/20

Once the up speed get sorted to 10, then that'll be fine for me. As said, I'm on a low contention, non traffic shaped business connection

George says that if he sticks me on 80/20 then I will be subject to traffic shaping etc, you can't really let a domestic customer lose on an 80/20 business connection

So it probably evens things out

Thought that I would take a look at George's home broadband packages. I clicked on the link and I immediately found myself faced with a certificate issue. Must be my week for them. Not 'Go Daddy' this time! No traffic shaping on 80/20 with IDNet: my connection purrs away happily at 76/17 (actual speeds) throughout the day. My F!B has also remained connected for over 3 weeks: it likes a downstream SNR of 12.

PS I had never heard of 'Go Daddy' until earlier this week. I was watching a 20/20 match at the Rosebowl on TV earlier today, and 'Go Daddy' hoardings were all over the place.

PPS Now if AVM would just sort out CLID and the ghost calls...........

I thought that there was a minimum speed for FTTC? Thunderstorms caused a massive increase in errors but my speed hardly ever changes.

If the speed is fluctuating but your sync isn't, then it looks like exchange congestion or congestion at your ISP.

First option is most likely Lance. BT have had a lot of problems in this area lately. George reckons I'm one of very few on this connection
