ive noticed more  sites are now showing signs like this

You appear to be using AdBlocker or similar to block adverts
***** is solely funded by advertising revenue and would cease to exist without this
Please consider whitelisting ***** - we try to avoid intrusive banners and serve no popups.


so they can even detect what software you use now eh? try to catch you every way

I suspect they're guessing, hence, "or similar".

It used to be that it was possible to detect the Adblock extension directly but these days it's done using a fairly convoluted JavaScript method I believe. I'm not entirely convinced that it's foolproof so Simon may well be right.

Technical Ben

An advert might say set a cookie also, then the site tries to read the cookie. If there is no cookie, then you probably have adblock. Or it uses similar techniques, but different paper trails (like Javascript, open windows etc).
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Actually no you're right, you can only see your own IP displayed :)
