view DG834Gv5 adsl password ?

Does anyone know how to view or recover the ADSL password from the netgear DG834Gv5 router ? Or know if updating the firmware will "loose" all the current settings & info ?

Also it will clear all settings, normally a firmware update wont cause issue, but read about any adverse effects from updating before you do.

But it won't reset or view the current password

I found you can view the config settings file direct so I got the info from that file in the end.
