Is it possible to schedule a windows PC to ping a linux box to wake up ? (WOL)

Lance

Stupidly, I'm wondering why you don't just schedule the Linux box to start up at the time you would schedule the WOL packet to be sent?

Otherwise, could you not have a batch file (pinging the machine or something) scheduled in Windows Task Scheduler.

Isn't WOL bios based not os based? The wakeup bit anyhow. But a batch file or schedule might do the pinging bit in windows. Ignore most of this post, I know nothing of automating things in windows, else I'd get it to post some forum posts for me.  ;D
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Bios and your NIC card has to support it and be enabled.

The PC will keep the NIC powered when enabled.
