put in for a package change to pro-plus simply to get the 200Gb anytime allowance.

It occurred i suspect today at 11:00

now i used to be on fast i am now interleaved and i used to get 832Kb upload now i have 448?

Have emailed support just wondering if this is a common problem?

Rik

Shouldn't be, Dean, it's just an accounting change.

Was there a migration to ASDL2+ with the upgrade?
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

"Was there a migration to ASDL2+ with the upgrade?"

I wish-no ADSL2+ on my exchange  >:(

Steve

I think you need to talk to them. Exchange priority is currently quoted as an extra £10/month but you we're probably paying that previously.

I am not a happy bunny as the below is not on the package change nor was i advised at any point.

so sorry Rik it is not just an accounting change  >:(

Sorry that's not what your website states and I feel if that is the case it is very misleading.

One of the main reasons of using idnet and the max product was the higher upload speed.

Your website states:-

* Broadband speeds are affected by your proximity to your local telephone exchange, quality of your phone line and any internal wiring.

And the pro-plus package is up to Up-to-1Mbps*

At no time in my conversations with yourselves (Simon) was it stated that I would lose half my upload speed.

So I am sorry I now have an issue, please advise as to a way forward as previously stated one of the main reasons me choosing Idnet was for the higher upload speed.

Hi Dean,

I have sent a request to BT to get the interleaving turned off.

This should complete at some point on Monday.

You were on a Max Premium connection before and the package that you have moved to is a normal Max connection. The connections on ADSL Max are up to 448k upload compared to the ADSL Max Premium, which goes to 800+.

Regards,

Sorry if this post seems a bit negative but i do feel that the information given on the website is incorrect. most of you that know me also are aware i do not generally complain  ::)

Rik

Not my website, Dean, we're just volunteers here, Dean. I'd drop Simon Davies an email if I were you.

Sorry Dean, this is the quote from the website.

"Packages will be provided over ADSL2+ where available, if not available we will install your service on ADSL Max (download speed up to 8128kbps, upload speed up to 448kbps) or ADSL Max Premium (download speed up to 8128kbps, upload speed up to 832kbps) for the Premium package."

What I cannot see is any price tariff for adslmax.

Its the same the devil is in the detail and small print.

ADSLMAX is the same price as adsl2+

so just for living in a rural community i am penalized for wanting high speed internet. just because BT/Openreach have not upgraded our exchange to ADSL2+ and FTTC is a remote and distant dream.

my main gripe is that i was never informed i would lose half my upload.

Looks like i may have to get a dodgy unlimited package and switch my other phone line from idnet to get my "bandwidth hungry devices off idnet"

I like Idnet, i recommend them-my father in law has his phone through them and several friends also have BB and Phone through them due to my recommendation.

But i feel that just for living in a rural community i am penalized for wanting high speed internet. BT really need to get there act together...

Rik

That's why I suggest you have a word with Simon.

My other option is (and is not documented on website) is possibly traffic priority to get my upload speed up?

its a possibility but i doubt my company would wear another £10 a month  :'(

lets see what happens.

Trouble is i know i need to sleep on this as once i get "annoyed" i tend to act rashly (if you know what i mean)

Note that this information only got added to the small print at around 1pm today, in response to a rather heated discussion I had with IDnet about the exact same issue.  I had been told by Simon that if I moved from my current Home SuperMax package to the new Pro package, I would keep the 832kbps upload speed.  Thankfully I double checked this and was told by Brian that this wasn't the case.

Before they added this small print, it just said up to 1mbps upload according to what your line will support, which is 832kbps in the case of ADSL Max.  Except that BT wholesale call this "ADSL Max Premium" with normal "ADSL Max" having a 448kbps cap.  So it's more an artificial limit imposed by the BT package which IDnet resell rather than the actual limit of the technology.

Unfortunately for us folk without access to ADSL2, it's now *very* expensive to get anything more than 448 upload with IDnet.

Can you not go back to the old package you were on?

Apparently not according to Brian.  This only gives you priority download.  The only way IDnet will put you on ADSL Max Premium now is to pay for the Premium package at £89.50+VAT per month!

Unless you get get back on your old package?

Steve

 :welc: :karma:

Thanks Seb for the information. I agree it's not entirely clear to me where adslmax users stand with the new packages, If memory serves me right exchange priority was part and parcel of the old adslmax 832 upload. I'm sure Brian will be correct regarding traffic priority only affecting download.

Typical.

As i said before us folks living in rural areas without ADSL2+ or FTTC get the worst price broadband going.

Glad its not just me and i was sure when i ordered that it was not mentioned that my upload speed would be regraded DOWN. you have just confirmed it, thank you. (as i originally ordered a few weeks ago).

I hate looking for a new provider but it looks like i may have to.  :(

seb303

I came across Zen while looking for an alternative.  They offer a 832kbps upload package for £45+VAT p.m.
http://www.zen.co.uk/business/broadband/business-broadband.aspx
Both the 'Office' packages are 832kbps upload with ADSL Max.

I decided to stick with my old IDnet package for now.  I do feel a bit overcharged when I pay £1/GB for anything above the 40GB daytime bandwidth allowance, but for 832kbps upload at £29.78+VAT p.m. I can't really complain.  In all other ways IDnet do provide a great service.  I'll never go back to a budget ISP!

Ok so i cannot have high upload speed and 200Gb anytime download. Shame it was not made clear at the point of order.

But i am lucky in that i do have 2 linescoming into the house so i "could" have a 2nd provider on this line (with lower upload) to supply the bandwidth hungry devices Sky+ netflix (the new kid in the house)

so can anyone recommend a budget BT wholesale supplier (our exchange does not even have adsl2+) that can provide at a reasonable price.

i do not mind shifting the phone provider (currently idnet) but price is the key object (as i am paying)

the current ADSL line the upload speed and priority is key but my daily usage is exceeding 40Gb a month (just) and my company who pay for this will not wear the increased cost of £1 per GB.

anyone any ideas?

Dean

Steve

I think the question would be better asked on somewhere like ThinkBroadband than IDNetters.

On BT's ADSL Max, Traffic Priority brings with it the higher 832kbps upload speed. On ADSL2+ it does not affect the upload speed.

So, an ADSL Max customer can choose our Lite package and add Traffic Priority, to get the higher upload speed, for a monthly price of just £26.50 +VAT

g7pkf

After much confusion i think the best way forward (till BT get there act together and upgrade my exchange) and what i have sort of decided to do is

go for the pro package 100Gb (i am estimated to use 75 this month) with traffic priority (which gives the higher upload speed) I am totally assuming i can go up a package at a later date if i start to push the 100Gb limit :)

I do think that a note should be added to website for TP in that if on MAX you achieve a higher upload speed :)

Is this definitely correct?
Brian from IDNet specifically told me not.  He said 832kbps upload is only available with the Premium package, and not with Traffic Priority alone.

On ADSL Max, Traffic Priority and 832kbps upload go hand-in-hand. It was the method BT used to differentiate Business grade from Residential grade services back when Max was the fastest service.
