I had this the other day, Baz. Line was dropping authentication every few minutes at one point. Oddly a BT line check  instigated by IDNet seemed to sort the issue out although no fault was found  ::)
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Baz

sounds similar to mine Gary.Did you ask for the line check or was it auto done, were IDNet aware of a problem

I asked for a line check Baz. IDNet were not aware of any faults, but after the line check all was back to normal but as I mentioned IDNet said there were no faults. :dunno:

I get that on my voice line. Noisy as hell, run the tester, all is well.

Baz do you use Sky's on demand service with there wireless connector by any chance?
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Baz

no dont have sky Gary.

im on the LLU if that means any thing

Gary

Maybe its something to do with the LLU side of things Baz  :dunno: I found the Sky Wireless connector a pain in the...well lets just say its not on my network anymore, Catchup TV was not worth the trouble, the adaptor does not like many routers it seems. Since you dont have Sky I would get IDNet to test your line tomorrow, give them a call rather than email.  :fingers:

Regarding Sky boxes and network connections - my Buffalo Airstation N Dual Band Ethernet Convertor works very well. The Sky Box has a fixed IP address and the connection is very stable, I'm currently using the new Picasso EPG which gives the additional On Demand service, this is great for consuming lots and lots of bandwidth on FTTC. :)

Tbh Steve I have catch up built into my TV and Blu ray player and PS3 with iPlayer 4OD 5 on Demand etc and also Netfix so I'm not to bothered with Sky. The new EPG is great but I'm starting to double up on on things which is just not needed. My Connection was stable but the Wireless box they send you (was £9.99) continually keeps asking for a new IP address, (no need for me to have fixed IP addresses) also I am not sure the thing would work with one, also its  a pain that you cant find the IP of your Sky STB box as well. Many people have had to change from VC to LLC in router settings to get the thing to work. I'll think I'll stick to pressing the TV remote, its easier. Many people running R.005.053.70.05P cant get other units to work now so that's good to hear anyway.

I'm just trying to keep things simple, we have enough trouble finding one remote never mind the remote for the TV, the BluRay player and the PS3. I can't get iPlayer on a Panasonic system so I'm a bit stuck until Sky get it, (supposedly this autumn) btw the batteries have corroded in the Wii. :rant2:

My Sony remote thankfully operates the blu ray player TV and PS3 thanks to Bravia Sync the thing is the blu ray player has all the same features as the TV, skype on demand etc and apps you can download which is  bit silly, I  have an app for the iPhone that operates as a remote and can throw images from and to the TV and acts as a mouse for the internet TV and keyboard too, its all a bit much really. iPlayer comes on 30th October to Sky. :) You need to Wii more maybe, Steve?  ;D

router is new in August, faceplate may be july but definitely this year.

Rik

They do that to avoid you getting billed by BT, Baz.
