Steven Sinofsky, the head of Microsoft's Windows division, has left the company with immediate effect.

His departure comes just weeks after Microsoft launched Windows 8, the latest edition of its flagship product, seen as key to the firm's future

Seems its all go at the top  ;)

Maybe Scott Forstall, John Browett & Steven Sinofsky are forming a new company together.

Blimey, I thought he was likely to push Ballmer aside and become CEO myself.

From what I've seen that is rarely the case. The great workers go to greener pastures, the ones that are only great in their own heads/minds stay in the company to make it "better".
Why? I'd guess it's because the great workers don't care about the name of the brand they work for, just that the end product/service is top notch. Where as the useless workers/managers need the good deeds in the history of the brand name to hide behind.  ;)
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Windows 7 was good, Windows 8, not so much.

Could be he's been poached by another company, win 8 and surface aren't selling or Ballmer fears he's about to be unseated so eliminated the threat.

We're not likely to know until Sinofsky writes a book.

I think a lot of people thought that Mitch, probably including Ballmer.

Probably why Ballmer got rid then.

Maybe Bill might do a Steve Jobs.
