Not sure with Windows on the Mac you just close it and that's it gone!.

Yes, I can close it and it's gone, but it comes up again each time I start iTunes.

It's been seen with previous versions with Windows, perhaps a solution will appear in a while, one suggestion was to create a new short cut.  :dunno:

I'm beginning to wish they'd left the damned thing along.  I've not found anything yet that's better than the previous version - just different.  Seems a change for change's sake to me.

Does it use any less ram/cpu than the last version? Windows does have a 64 bit version and I imagine tbh it would behave better on that, if you are still using XP it really is time to upgrade to a 64 bit OS for better performance and maybe compatibility. As to the window did you agree to iTunes looking for Artwork?

I don't recall being asked to, Gary.  Yes, still on XP.  I'll get around to upgrading one day, but I can't say it's on my list of priorities.

REALLY don't like this new itunes. For some reason it doesn't always show the phone tab so I have to shut it all down, disconnect the phone, close all apple software on the PC and then launch itunes and then connect the phone.

Horrid buggy POS. Never had problems previously, other than navigating around, which is another thing they've made actively stressful. If this sort of thinking keeps up, this will be the final nail in the coffin for me using iphones.

I'm getting more used to it, but it certainly isn't an improvement on iTunes 10.  At least the bloody tutorial has gone from mine now.

They've also taken away some of the features I used to use, which is quite annoying, such as the ability to view album covers on the songs list. There is no separation between albums now, which I just find a bit silly.  Further, there doesn't seem to be a tick box to have tracks gapless any more. I assume this is because everything is now gapless by default, but it would've been nice to have been left with the choice.

If we want a discussion on Windows 8 or WMP please refer to the appropriate thread Any further discussion in this thread of anything unrelated to iTunes 11 will be removed.

iTunes 11.0.1 available, mainly bug-fixes and reinstating the facility to show duplicates.

No mention of CoverFlow :(

edit- Drat, I should have read the next page on the updates thread :red:

I don't think I agree.

I would have done at first, but now I'm getting used to the new paradigm I think it's an improvement and I do prefer it. There are one or two things that I miss of course, but nothing serious.

It's more flexible, and some things that I had to use a smart playlist for are now there at the click of a button.

It's certainly good at showing up any shortcomings in the way your library had been organised previously- I've just spent most of the day re-organising things to the way they should have been to start with!

(Much of which was caused by importing CDs and DVDs before I really knew what I was doing, and has been there since I first ran it :red:)

I have to admit, I've adjusted to it now, and I quite like it, but I miss the album cover view in the Songs list, as there's no separation between albums.  I still maintain, though, that there's nothing I've found that's actually any better than iTunes 10.

I still miss CoverFlow :'(

I think the main thing I'd like to see would be the ability to change the size of the album thumbnails in "grid" view. They're obviously a fixed pixel size, not a proportion of the screen size, which means they're a bit big on the MacBook and a touch small for my aging oculars on the iMac...

Its simpler and faster, that's an improvement to begin with.

Coverflow was nice but I never used it, far to many albums to flick though, so searching was always the best way for me.

I seldom used it for that, but on playback it was great to run it full-screen so that you see the cover of the album you were playing.

Not so much if you were playing a complete album, but I've got a playlist of a couple of hundred of my favourite tracks that I usually play in random order... and with the 40" TV connected as an external monitor via HDMI it was superb :thumb:

I keep my TV well away from my computers, the thing does enough on its own as it is  :) Guess it goes back to Albums, proper artwork you could open up on occasion and look at, I miss vinyl (records people records)

I wonder if they've fixed the bug that stops you using wireless Airplay speakers if you've got IPv6 enabled... only one way to find out!
