FTTC Migration before contract end

Hi All,

We've taken out FTTC at our rented home with IDNet (after using their ADSL2 service for a while) in December 2012 with plans to move into our own house in 10~12 months after topping up the remainder of our deposit.

As it turns out the wife has managed to do some arm wrestling and eyelash batting and it looks like we could be moving out in as little as 2 months.

We are currently on the £60/mo FTTC contract (for work reasons) which is partly funded by my employeer, but I am well aware that there is a 12 month contract on that product.

We plan to move within the same area so would be on the same exchange (although a different cab).
We would also want to keep our existing phone number.
The place we buy *may* already have FTTC.

Will I be able to get BT to just migrate the line and continue the contract with IDNet?
If not will I be able to get BT to migrate the POTS and IDNet migrate the FTTC and continue where I left off on the contract [or even start a new one, I don't mind as long as I don't end up paying for 2 lines at the same time!]?
Will I have to pay for a FTTC re-install and engineer visit? Even if the house already has FTTC?
Does the house having FTTC (or not) make any difference?

Unfortunately I don't know the answers to your questions but I would expect some set-up or cancellation costs somewhere along the line. It would be great if you could report back here after getting the answers from IDNet.

Obviously support will know the costs involved, the ISP has a years contract with Openreach for your FTTC line, there will be some costs inherited as a new FTTC line leads to another years cost for the ISP . I have seen the worse case quoted for one ISP ie pay the balance of the contract and a disconnection fee, on top of that there's the cost of the new connection. However another ISP quoted a £125 swap to new address charge.

Like Lance (edit: and Steve), I would expect there to be some fees in relation to the move, but IDNet would be able to clarify.  My guess is they would charge you what BT charge them.
