This is quite normal to allow corporate system administrators time to test it against in house applications before it gets it rolled out via Software Update Services (a version of Windows Update running on a server inside a corporate firewall)

Yep. Just imagine if IE10 changes the location of a button on a webpage and your million pound a day till system relies on IE9 to put the button on the screen. If you upgrade "automatically" you'll not have any staff clicking "buy" for a while.
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

I haven't used IE for well over a decade so I will definitely not be downloading it.  For many years I was a huge fan of Avant but around 2 years ago it went a little bit crazy and I had to switch to Chrome which I quite like.  I understand there may be one or two luddites on this forum who still put their faith in Firefox.  We know who you are...   :bye:

I've used IE since the beginning and have never had any problems and it runs fast enough for me so I won't cahnge to any other browser although I have tried them all over the years.

Quote from: Glenn on Feb 02, 2013, 11:15:50Thunderbird & Firefox combined basically I believe.

Ah, Mrs Clive used that combination for years until she became fed up with the memory hogging.  She's now very happy with Chrome and won't go back to Firefox.  She still uses Thunderbird for e-mail though although she doesn't particularly like it.  When I dumped my XP PC for a Win 7 laptop in December I opted for Windows Livemail but neither T/Bird nor L/mail can hold a candle to our beloved Outlook Express.   :bawl:

I like Chrome, I am just not prepared to allow Google to store details of every web page I visit.

I work on the assumption that the secret services have unfettered access to the data and I certainly don't trust our Government.

What is the date of the referendum for England to become an independent country ?

You make a very persuasive point against Google Kinmel. But I'm generally a bit of a goody two-shoes in my surfing habits so the Government and MI5 would be disappointed.
