A BT engineer who has been tasked to investigate the problem with the primary link that failed this morning, managed to break the backup link!
He has now restored that service and is still working on the primary link problem.
Bloody BT!

:sigh:

Thanks for the update Simon.

Better put the coffee on and get the extra blankets out then... going to be a long night it seems....

I'm going to restore a backup to the site I was updating and leave it for tonight as you can't trust BT not to take the connection down again  :-\

adrinux

I'm never more glad I have a 3G device than at times like this :)
Lets hope BT get it fixed soon, without breaking anything else...

zappaDPJ

Most (but not all) sites are now resolving to the BTWholesale page again for me.

Cheers, Simon.  Perhaps they should now be known as BBT!

All the ones I've tried are OK, but one email (not an IDNet one) has timed out.

(edit- OK on next attempt)

I can't see any connectivity issues at present (apart for operating at reduced resiliency).

zappaDPJ

I reconnect (not rebooted) and that seems to have corrected the BTWholesale redirection problem for me.

IDNet network status page:

When trying to fix the primary broadband circuit BT managed to kill the backup circuit too. This dropped all customer connections!

They have now restored the backup circuit and are still working on the primary.

I seem to remember that they did the self same thing to IDNet a few years back!!

But only for a few minutes. This has been driving me mad all evening. One minute a site is fine and then it's back to the BTWholesale page again. Reconnecting clears it but not for long. I'm going to try adding the DNS servers directly into TCP/IP settings. It's about all I can think of doing.

Some sites worked for me but many such as Yahoo and Skype were dead all afternoon.  It seems fine again now but I hope all is well for you this weekend.  I will be at Cricket St Thomas rocking to the sounds of Edison Lighthouse (one original member surviving).

Bill

Well over 12 hours now and still not fixed... I wonder what the terms of IDNet's SLA are with BT?

(Apart fom confidential, of course :P)

There's still a lot of packet loss showing...

Not dissimilar to mine, and a fair bit of congestion:

(I know some people would kill for as little blue and yellow as we see, but that's their fault for going with rubbish ISPs ;D)

Hoping the packet loss gets better as everyone goes to bed, wanna do some TV catch up on 4OD

Can't do any streaming with that packet loss at the moment.

Bill

Interesting... all the BQM links seem to have gone down :dunno:
