The update is to fix a security flaw in the Lock Screen of iOS devices, which made it possible to circumvent security to access the Phone app and potentially the private information held within.

Ironically it couldn't finish the update on my phone because the lock screen was locked and needed to be unlocked in order to complete the installation

Also, strangely, my wifi seems better this morning, but that could be to do with the full reset / restore.

No idea it could help in theory, I always turn my phone off once a month anyway as all computery things need a reset, I update using wifi so never do a full restore last nights patch was only 18mb that way.

I think there may be benefits in doing an occasional full 'clean sweep' with iTunes when installing patches, as I did last night. Only took 30 minutes, while I was having tea, so no hassle really. I do usually install patches via wifi, but I think it would have taken ages with the wifi issue I had.

My only gripe is I can never get these updates when released, I always seem to have to wait a day or two. Maybe a change of user name to Aardvark would help

Never did it on my 4S or my 5 so far. I would do a restore if I had issues though. Thought your wifi issue was sorted, Simon.

The previous network reset only seemed to be a temporary fix, and I hadn't fiddled about with it any further.
