Hi,

I've just signed up with IDNet and got my connection setup on Tuesday.

For the first day or so the speed and latency was excellent, 56Mbit/sec down, 18Mbits/sec up, and 9ms ping to bbc.co.uk. Brilliant!

Alas on Wednesday evening and tonight speeds have plummeted to 11Mbit/sec (the same speed as my old ADSL) and latency has increased to 22ms.

The BT engineer said my line was syncing at the best speed, and this is backed up by the speed test site which says I am connected at 77Mbits/sec.

I have contacted support, is there anything else I can do? Otherwise this is becoming a very expensive way to get no speed improvements at all.  :(

There's not a lot the end user can do with FTTC, hopefully it will settle down. However I assume these tests were via a direct ethernet connection to the router and not WiFi, as WiFi on FTTC is one cause of poor throughput. I suggest a series of BT Speedtests and send copies to support to highlight the issue if it persists.

Is that a current BT speedtest result? Ie;your throughput is lower than your sync speed? Are you testing using a wired or wifi connection?

It might also be worth starting a separate thread for your issue rather than combining it with someone else'.
