In particular this conclusion:


  • Users of Zen Internet, Eclipse, AAISP and IDNet rated the reliability highly (5 of 5) whilst Orange and AOL users were more likely to rate them low.

So well done to the IDNet team I think.

Not surprised, having been with O2 and Orange I remember how dismal things were. Support have been great with my line issues, I could not wish for better help.

I see that I have now been with iDNet since September 2009 and Sis since March 2008.  We've both had the occasional hiccup, myself more so than her since I'm on a poor line.  With the exception of one (no fault found by BT and an invoice for some £200 which I paid through gritted teeth), all were resolved without major problems. 

Excellent customer service and neither of us has thought seriously about moving.

I'm one of those who regularly give IDNet 4 or 5 stars for reliability on TBB, and it's deserved. But although I don't want to spoil the party I want to give credit to the hated BT too. Without any investment in the copper local loop from the cab, I (along with a shed load of others) have gone from a 1Mbps max "fixed" speed to VDSL running at up to 40Mbps in less than 10 years. I think it's an incredible achievement, and can think of of no other national infrastructure which has matched that roll-out. I know that when things go wrong they can go very wrong, but that is the nature of everything in the modern world where everyone is trying to do more with less  - and if we're honest every job relies more on automated technology which is great when it works, and a pain when it doesn't; and quick fixes, which can cause as many problems as they solve. And the bureaucracy of the industry, largely imposed by Ofcom, is an absolute nightmare. And as I recall IDNet get £18 of my subscription (out of which they have to pay Wholesale I know-not-what) and BTOR about £10, per month; although it equals out with the line rental. And despite all the grumbles no-one but BT was prepared to actually cough up to match fund the millions being spent on BDUK contracts to extend faster broadband. Their marketing is atrocious, but we can't be pretty all the time.

Sure things could have been done better, and we'd have been paying a heck of a sight more for it too; and I suspect many of us waiting longer (even those still stuck on antiquated services).
