I am going to save up and get the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

I'm not sure if to go for 7 inch or 10 inch. I want  it  take away or if I end up in hospital

- I'm on a tight budget, but don't mind paying for 10 inch if it would really help

- my eye sight isn't very good, but neither is my co-ordination and strength in my arms.

- It needs to be light, as I will probably have my stuff and 2 dogs with me :)

Sorry for not been around and then asking a question. I've been quite ill over the last year

Simon

Hi Tina, good to hear from you - sorry you've been unwell.

I've not used either, but from what you've said about your eyesight and co-ordination, perhaps the 10" would be better, in that text would naturally be bigger (although, I expect the font size could be adjusted on the 7" if necessary), and you may not have to be quite so precise, in aiming at smaller targets on the touch screen, if co-ordination is an issue.  The best thing I can suggest is, if you're able to, go to a shop that sells them, and see / try both.

I think it depends on usage, 10 inch is not as portable as the 7 inch but you need to be happy with the resolution of the smaller screen.

With regards hospital stays, I guess, if you're lying in bed, for example, or even sitting up in a chair, you could rest the 10" on your knees or lap, so weight may not be an issue.

Have both the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" and 10".

I prefer the 10" as images are clearer to my ageing eyes and I have big fingers that fit better ;) I also have a Bluetooth keyboard that doubles as a protective cover as it's the same size and allows docking of the Tab to a sort of small netbook/laptop configuration.

My only criticism is the touch screen is not that sensitive but again that might be my fingers!! Battery life is good though.

As the old saying goes the bigger the better. :)  Hope you begin feeling better soon.

Thanks all. I've gone for http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0080OYLM6/ref=pe_217191_31005151_M3C_dp_1

Just one more question if I may. I've just gone for the WIFI model. Couldn't justify another £100 and another 3G plan. I've got an android HTC. Would it be possible to tether my phone to the tablet? If so would it use a lot of my phone allowance, I've got an allowance of 250 MB web surfing and e-mails. Or would I be better buying a MIFI unit and just top up a Sim card when needed?

Thanks for all your help :)

Glenn

Tina, it would depend on what your phone/sim contract says, most new contracts now don't allow tethering.

Tina

Well I've had my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 two days now, and I really like it :) As I've got an Android phone it was a doodle to set up :) I have a couple of questions though if OK

- I am really struggling with touch key pad. I've tried various keyboards in the Play store, and have settled on swift key. But it's still hard. Can someone please recommend a Bluetooth key board Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 ?

- Also which browser do people use on their android tablets. I've downloaded both Dolphin and Firefox. I use Firefox on my laptop, but not sure if I like it on the tablet.

Thanks for your help :)

Steve

If your looking a separate keyboard obviously look at those that combine as a case and stand also.

I bought one of these:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008H3XQ6W/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Currently unavailable on Amazon but maybe back in stock soon?

Re browser, tried 'em all and Dolphin is the best! Firefox on Android is hard work  :'(

Andrew

Tina

Well I love my android tablet. Infact I hardly use my laptop now.

I use dolphin as a browser and find it fast. I've installed SwiftKey and love it. So much so that I don't think I'll buy a keyboard now.

I've installed the kindle app and have downloaded books from amazon. The  10.1inch was definitely the right one for me.. Just need to buy a mifi unit Now

Great stuff, Tina!  :thumb:
