My router is up, and says it's connected, but I've got a non-IDNet IP address, and can't connect to the Internet.  Currently on phone with 3G.  Anyone else got problems?  I've rebooted the router, which hasn't helped.

Ray

Same here getting a username password error when trying to connect ppp.

same here. When I do connect, usually after an "Authentication fail", it's a 172.16.x.x address which clearly isn't right, and the router it says it has, is unpingable. Been this way for nearly an hour I think. Tried restarts, reconnects the lot. Am also on via 3G right now.

Also, where's the network status page on the idnet.net site gone? ah, google finds it, but there don't seem to be any links to it on the site any more. And as it's saying everything's fine, I wonder if it's even being updated.

Time to email support...

Rachel

BTW those of us having this issue should probably report where we are; what's the betting it's a BT ADSL cloud issue; and there may be some geographical pattern.

For my part, Totnes, Devon.

Glenn

It's listed under Network status on the front page, it hasn't been updated though. http://www.idnet.net/support/networkstatus.php

Oh I see the link now, that's embarrassing; just after sending the mail mentioning its absence too. It's right where I was looking for it too. I plead Friday Evening.  :red:

Gregor

I've got the same 172.16.x.x IP but interestingly no authentication failures.

Rachael, I'm at pretty much the other end of the country to you, in Aberdeenshire, so I doubt it's geographical...

Hi All,

Apologies, we are currently investigating across our network and will update further as soon as we have more information

Thanks Brian.  Still down here, Mid Sussex, so not geographical.

Hi All,

Correction, the issue is not on our network. BT have confirmed a major issue within their network, this is affecting a number if ISPs and being investigated at present.

Nevertheless, you might consider updating your service status page so that people don't go there and assume that there are no known problems.  That is, after all, what it's for, isn't it?

lozcart

No disconnections here in Birmingham on FTTC, everything operating fine.

Hi Karvala,

This will be updated shortly

I lost PPPoE about 90 mins ago but it came back fairly quickly.

The advice seems to be if your connected don't touch it as any attempt to  reconnect is likely to fail currently.

My line is down too, I'm south of Bristol.

Reverting to 3G which seems to have been upgraded .... Now I am getting 3 or 4 times better throughput than my ADSL line on a good day.....man I wish BT would at least upgrade the exchange to 21CN as it would be a set in the right direction to FTTC in the sticks :-(

davej99

Down here in Perthshire, but I have a GPRS dongle? No 3G past Perth here in the third world. Looks like the string has bust between BTs cocoa tins and its 19CN is down altogether. What a bunch!

keybored

Down here in sunny Swindon; currently connected courtesy of next doors home hub

BadMelonFarmer

And it seems to be back!.... But given i have just figured out I can get better 3G service than ADSL.... Need to look into that until Open Reacharround  pull their finger out!

DaveJ99 - I feel your pain... It was 2g only here until recently, last month I think.

vitriol

Still down in Durham  :(

Back here too, Woohoo!

Whoops? My splendid 9mps connection is back up. Last week got 40+ in a rural Korea. What a joke we have in BT; unless you are in central London maybe. The only fibre I am getting is called All Bran!

Was down here in North Essex, backed up to an earlier date and all seems ok,what's weird though is that the current time in the router log was "Current time: 2000-01-01 01:04:41" till about half an hour ago

Not sure it answers anything, why are BT performing maintenance early on a Friday evening, sounds like bullocks to me!

Mine was down in south Wales from 7pm  until sometime after 9pm.  I phoned ID Net who admitted they had a problem.  BT Internet would have told me the problem was my fault.    :

I've noticed that BT often perform maintenance late on a Friday afternoon or Friday evening; almost every time I have a BT-related problem (which is basically every problem I've ever had with the connection ::) ) it occurs at the time.  I'm guessing they have weekly targets or lists to get through, and suddenly spring into action on Friday lunchtime trying to get it done.  That's why the errors occur; they rush things and don't bother to properly check their work.

Ruerin

Was down 2 hours and has continually gone out for me again today, I always seem to get the short straw with BT maintenance.

Simon

No problems here since it came back last night.

Was down here yesterday near Leeds when I switched on at around 7pm. Checked connections, filters etc. Noticed BT were working at top of the road at tea time, thought that might be the reason so gave up trying about 9 pm.  Everything fine now though.  :thumb:

Take care of all your memories. For you cannot relive them.

karvala

Down here again: no loss of sync or BT IP address this time, but any attempt to browse takes me directly to the BT test page.  Will shortly reboot the router, though I strongly suspect it's BT messing about again.  This just happened in the last few minutes.

karvala

....and back in business.  As I suspected, BT were messing around and it only lasted a few minutes.  Could still ping the router during that time as well, so the TBB monitor and router logs report nothing unusual.  Could potentially have been more of those throughout the day and I wouldn't really have known.
