O2 support will be though Twitter/Facebook as it outsources call centres.

Telefonica-owned O2 says it will be spending £31m saved through the outsourcing deal on improving its response to customers on social networks and live web chats. The mobile giant describes the move as a response to changing customer behaviour, while the CWU describes it as "a betrayal of the staff who have built this company and made it successful".

O2's rationale for the move is that modern customers are using smartphones and getting support from Twitter and Facebook, rather than calling telephone support. O2's Apple-envying retail stores are also getting another £19m to "mirror O2's online shopping experience". That's O2 off my company list, I don't use either media.

In the 17 years or so I've been using them (from when they were BTCellnet), I've only had to call then two or three times, so this doesn't really worry me too much.  However, like Glenn, I use neither Facebook or Twitter, and I don't like the feeling they we are all gradually being forced into doing so.

Guess I'll be sticking with GiffGaff and buying gigabags when I need data for my Galaxy Ace 2

What Simon said. I'm not with them but I hope other mobile providers don't go the same way as it will alienate lots of people who don't want to use either site or wouldn't know how (not necessarily because they're older.)

Pretty much all the mobile operators have outsourced their CS.

O2 dont even put up properly detailed tariff info any more. Its hard to find out what's the best option if you run a legacy tariff.  >:(

Any help Gary https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/tariffs/

I guess noone uses all the minutes they include so maybe they think they don't need to put up detailed pricing.

Cheers Mitch. Im staying on my legacy tariff, 35p for calls over your allowance  :eek4: Mines only 20.4p in fact my whole tariff is 15p or so cheaper than the modern ones.

Give it a few years and they'll be bribing you to come off it.

A mate a few years ago made a good few hundred quid from T-mobile as he was still on the original One2One tariff that gave him free local calls in the evening.

I'll stick to GiffGaff for now.

For data I use Three, GiffGaff is good but its also a bit crippled in features as its running off O2 I'll stick with that for the other phone.

O2 is about the best there is coverage wise round here.

I had intended to help out on GG's forums and earn a bit of cash for my trouble but other stuff has got in the way.
