And the next version of OS X- Mavericks.

I gather there is no truth in the rumour that it will come in three flavours- Bret, Bart and Beau :P

I've been looking at the overall design for iOS 7 and I have to say, I'm not overly impressed so far.

Have a good dig though all the features. I think its a big improvement on iOS6. I like the clean interface, swipe up to get to settings, the new camera app and weather app plus better organising of photographs, also now you can block calls at last. iOS has been stagnant for so long. Even the messaging is clean and refreshing. http://www.apple.com/ios/ios7/

Me neither. It all looks a little pale and insipid, and will probably be next to impossible to see the screens when outside on a bright day.   Guess we'll just have to wait and see how well it functions.

You can block calls, Gary?  Didn't see that.  What I'd also like is to have an option to withhold your number to all outgoing calls not in the Contacts list.  That feature was on the OLD Windows Mobile OS, and I haven't seen it anywhere else.

Seeing the screens in sunlight wont change because it looks paler I doubt, reading safari looks fine and that's mostly white as on screen. Less clutter is better in my view but we all like different things. Change is always a shock  ;)

Features we agree on, there's a lot to look forward to there :) I'll reserve judgement on the design for now but my initial view is that it's more of a sideways step than an improvement. It's not been very well received from what I can see but as you've quite rightly said, people generally don't like change even when it is an improvement.

I think it depends where you look, a cnet poll shows 66% liking it, but change is a fickle thing.  I think people will quickly get used to it quickly I mean how long has android had a torch app? Apple had to play catchup here and Ive has done a good job in simplifying and removing all the fake wood and green felt. looking at phones like the Galaxy 4 this kind of interface is more in tune. I like the fact its brighter, no more green bubbles for messages, no dark moody hues, and boy it will be buggy I bet

Sorry can't comment until I've used it. I would have never invested in OSX if I went on what it looked like. ;)

Most people like the look of a phone or a computer or a car and decide to buy before looking closely at the specs we go on looks first. People would not use a UI on any device even if it was fantastic and the whole world raved about it if they found it ugly...

I'm obviously not most people, I was determined to explore the functionality of OS X before I spent my thousands. I've always thought iOS and OS X look very bland but it was many hours using  these systems before I jumped.

Advertising relies on a lot of Psychology, you would may surprised how much they aim for our subconscious decision making processes first to snag us. I was drawn by reviews, playing around with one, but also because I fell in love with the aesthetics of the iMac. Nowadays I would skip the new ones and get something else, and not a iBin Sorry, Mac Pro. Those new can shaped monstrosities are horrid to my mind. I do wonder about a Hackintosh sometimes.
