I noticed over the last 2 days there's been a bit of congestion showing on the BQM's

Here's mine :

Caused by the tennis / cycling ?

Bill

I've been seeing the same, Wimbledon seems the most likely culprit.

BQMs-  IPv4  IPv6

Steve

I would agree it's the Tennis

Interestingly nothing showing on my connection via LD-STE  (Stepney Green node). So maybe (hope) BTw's on-going network upgrades are at last starting to have an effect and it might be regional - where work has still to be done.  :thumb: Temporarily, no doubt as they chase an ever-moving target with bb upgrades.

Nothing showing on mine although there's been a couple of brief outages:

The one at 2pm was a bit odd, actually. I was working from home and I lost access to the machines in our office but didn't seem to lose access to machines in Minneapolis. The weird thing is that all the machines are accessed over the same VPN  :dunno:

(The spikes are my Samknows box running speed tests although the one at 9pm might be another outage). I've not had any real problems as such but it's curious that I'm seeing two or three brief outages a week and looking at a TBBQM aggregation site suggests it's IDNet not my connection.

A: I had a similar thing a couple of days last week, but it has settled down over the last 5 days or so; which is why I hypothesise it might be the BTw network which seems to get "disturbed" whilst improvement works are on-going (although the actual works are at night but seem to be spread out over several days/weeks). This current sequence of works in my area seem to have "ended" last Thursday with the commissioning of a new 10Gig pipe - although the spikes occurred sporadically at other times).

Seems alright for me at the moment:

Not got my usual two identical flat lines but well within acceptable range for me. But you can see the congestion on the TBBQM:

Mines back to normal now as the congestion has eased.

Bloody tennis! I would hate to be an ISP when there are major sports events on.

 Nice one: the broadband's OK as long as (every)one (else) doesn't use it, not too much anyway.

Both of my two connections (via different routing) have shown no signs of any congestion this afternoon, though. Short of designing and installing a completely new national network, at heaven knows what cost, that's what we get, a patchwork quilt of quality.

Thankfully it's not very often but obviously annoying at the time!

Idnet learnt after that big slowdown a few years back when the tennis was on (or was it football I don't follow sports) Some ISP's would be grinding to a halt.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Steve

The old centrals were of fixed capacity with additional capacity having to be bought on a long term basis from BTw. The host link I believe offers much more short term flexibility

One of my friends is on BT Infinity 2 (with BT) and he has seen no slowdowns, saying that his cab is outside his house just about.
