I've had facebook sometimes become slow to load or not load at all yesterday and today. Can't see any other users having the same issue through a twitter search, so wondered if it was isolated to IDNet only. All other websites load fine.

Same here, doing a search on Facebook showed others having issues, Facebook was moving the rest of its users over to HTTPS which may have explained it. It seems fine at the moment, if a little buggy.

Yes me too for days! Have been HTTPS for ages, understood it to be more secure  :dunno:

What's Facebook? ;)

I think it's somewhere you can go to publish private information for the whole world to see.

Join the club Lona.  But I can see there is a great divide between facebook/twitter philes and phobes on this forum.  I think the phobes have it.

Lona

It just make you wonder where the internet is heading.

You wouldn't speak on the phone for ages to strangers, yet kids are chatting to strangers for hours on facebook.

Mind you, I'm chatting to you Clive so does that make me as bad as the kids.

I think if you don't understand twitter, then you could miss out on news and interests, people posting personal experience with say local doctors and hospitals places to go that were great or worth avoiding in real time, twitter is ok it is interesting, people who have never used it and think its about people saying "I just ate a sandwich" are really far off the mark.

The same goes for facebook Its great to keep up with friends who live abroad, see their posts, or seek out groups and help pages, news and information on what's happening in places in the world that are not readily available on prime time news outlets. Also local events like the anti fracking protests for instance recently and how to get involved if you feel strongly against it. For myself there are great Disabled help groups, I get to chat in real time to people with similar issues which is really helpful, there are great music groups for genres you may like. To many preconceived ideas float around about these places sadly.

are all still slow-loading / not loading at the moment. The other two links are by a friend asking me to check as he can't access them either after having recently switched to IDNet last week on my recommendation. Embarrassing to say the least :/

edit: loads fine now, but for how long?

Gary

Facebook has been loading fine for days now, no slowdows, have you tried using a different dns server? Some are faster than others for some.

do some searching. Facebook has had some issues http://downrightnow.com/facebook as to other sites routing issues occur outside idnets network. If a site is slow check google to see if others are having issues. Facebook has had slow days for the last two months. Other sites can be slow if Akami has dns issues too. Don't be quick to blame IDNet there are so many points of potential failure out here that this kind of thing happens more frequently than you may realise. Another site that's is useful http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/facebook.com.html
