I see that MS have done it again!

http://www.infoworld.com/t/microsoft-windows/microsoft-botches-still-more-patches-in-latest-automatic-update-226594

I have two windows 7 installs, one on my home pc another on a netbook, both running KIS 2012. The updates appear to have gone in OK on the home pc, apart from the issue of trying to install the same three patches over and over again, but the netbook got shafted! KIS would no longer load or run. Had to revert to a restore point and run a registry cleaner before re-installing KIS again.

Have now made a decision to run updates at the end of each month, after the bugs have been reported and fixed!

Grrrrrrr!

Simon

Maybe one solution to that would be to disable KIS before installing the patches?  I know you shouldn't have to, but...  :dunno:

Good point though Simon, I'll do that next time I try them.

Simon

Also, KIS is soon to be on version 2014, if not already, so it may pay to upgrade to the latest product version.  If you have a valid licence, this should transfer to the newer version.

I never install the latest version if I can help it. I will probably go to 2013 first. 2014 is likely to have bugs for the first few months of release.

Simon

It's always an idea to keep an eye on the product vendor's forum immediately after a new release.  Hopefully, though, the beta testers would have found any major bugs.  :)

There are already reports of slow boot up's and people waiting for the first patch for KIS 2014. I have now installed 2013, on the basis that if 2014 is out then there won't be another release,  seems OK except that Safe Money doesn't seem to work for me!

Flippin Windows. I've just got an old Desktop from work and installed Linux Mint 15 and it's miles better!  :)

Remember, Russia brought the Lada to the world.  ;D

Clive

With a lot of help from the Italians.  I think the Lada was basically a Fiat 124 made under license?

Pass mate, before my time  ;D

Now there's another marque I'll never touch when am driving.

My Aunt had a Fiat Regatta many years ago that had defective central locking and used to drain the battery by constantly locking and unlocking, she ended up just pulling the fuse.

Clive

They all used to be rust buckets but I understand they have a better reputation these days.  I've never owned one.   :D

Simon

Anyone one remember the NSU?   :D

Slow boot ups have always been there with every KIS version I've tried, from 2006!  It's one reason I've never stuck with it for long.

Yes I do!  The Ro80 with the Wankel rotary engine.  I had considered buying one but never got round to it.  I think I bought a Triumph 2.5PI instead.

pctech

Thought the Mazda RX range was the first with the rotary engine?

You wouldn't be able to say that next door.

Gosh no.  The NSU was first by a decade or more.  But they couldn't perfect the rotary engines which failed at around 30,000 miles.  Second hand Ro80's could be  bought for next to nothing and you were getting a very futuristic looking car with exceptionally high specs.  But without an engine.   :D  Using a conversion kit, a Ford Transit engine would slot in the engine bay and that's what I would have done if I had bought one.  Mazda's RX7 suffered engine problems too but my son bought two Mazda RX8's and they were very smooth and fast cars.  He let me drive both of them from time to time.   ;D
