My net's been down since I came home from work yesterday (Friday). There's no listed faults in my area and I've tried powering off my router for a few hours to reconnect, changing the ADSL filter and Googles open DNS. Still getting the same thing: WLAN light is on, ADSL light intermittently blinks and all the others remain off. Don't have another router I can try sadly.

Since I haven't seen any mention of problems here I'm assuming the problem is with IDNet or mroe likely on my end. What's the best course of action? I sent a query off on the webform on the site but is it worth phoning tomorow morning? Not sure how staffed support is on Saturday nights/Sunday mornings as this is the first time i've needed to contact in two years with IDnet.

Thanks.

Steve

Can your borrow a neighbours router/modem? It's most likely to be your line as it's doesn't sound like your obtaining a sync with the exchange. Support at weekends is out sourced so your may not get too far in restoring your connection before Monday AM. BT won't do anything before Monday anyway either unless there's a 'major' outage.

With out sounding daft or suggesting things you may have tried....is your phone line still working.

This happened to me some years ago, no internet I never thought of checking the actual line as we never used it much, tried the phone only after a neighbour called round and asked if it was working as his had been off all day.Turns out some hooligan had pulled wires out of the junction box at the end of my street....and of course it was over a weekend too.no BT till monday  ::)

how did you send a form into IDNet.

Simon

I've never been a fan of webforms to send emails.  You may be better off contacting them direct via email (support@idnet.com), or, as you say, by phone on Monday morning.

Thanks guys, didn't realise this was my first post, signed up here nearly two years ago

Not daft Baz, I actually hadn't tried that as I never use a landline phone, it's just an internet hole for me. Didn't actually have a landline phone in the house so I just picked up a cheap one from Argos and tried it out. No dial tone and a lot of erratic static/scratchy noises so it looks like that'll be the problem. Is it better to go straight to BT for that or is it something IDNet can sort? And yeah I just sent a query through the webform on the 'contact us' page on IDNet's website.

Glenn

The phone problem depends on who supplies your landline, are you billed for it via IDNet if so report it to them, otherwise report it to whoever bills you for it.

Depends who you pay your BT line rental to.  If you have a phone / broadband package with IDNet, then I think you need to go to them and they will raise the fault with BT.  If you're paying BT direct for the line, then I think you have to go via Calcutta.  ;)

IDNet for line rental luckily. I'll give them a call tomorow.
