I've just noticed that the package I am on gives only 15gig download allowance.
Package: Home Plus (ADSL2+)
Bandwidth Allowance: 80GB Total (Peak: 15GB / Off Peak: 65GB )
Package Monthly Cost: £18.37 (£15.31 ex vat)
(Note: this is the standard cost of package you are on.)

OR

Should I be changing to

Download Allowance    25GB
Upload Allowance    Unlimited
Static IPv4 Addresses    1
Static IPv6 addresses**    native /48

Monthly Price
Ex VAT
(inc VAT prices in brackets)    £16.50
(£19.80)

There's a difference of £1.43 which would give me an extra 10gb.
I would also ask what's the advantage of having a static ip address.?

Lona, that's 25Gb TOTAL with the new Lite package, with no peak / off peak split.  You currently have a peak / off peak split, 15 / 65 totalling 80Gb, so you would actually lose on the total allowance if you switch.  It might be better value for you to switch to the Pro package, which is 100Gb with no peak / off peak split.  Depends on your usage, of course.

If you want to switch, you can place the order in the link above, but add in the comments box that it's a package switch only, as you're already on ADSL2+.

As Simon implies, only you can decided whether or not to switch. If it were me, I would be asking do I find myself often paying for additional usage? Do I find myself downloading more than 25gb per month? Do I wait before downloading things in off-peak?

If you answer yes to the first and last question, and no to the second one then I would be upgrading.

As a 'normal' home user you probably won't find much benefit in a static IP address (you have one already don't forget). Personally, I run a server so it is pretty much essential.

It says unlimited upload on the 25gig package, Simon.?

As far as I was aware all IDNet packages have unlimited uploads, Lona.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Simon

Indeed, uploads don't count towards the allowance.

Just to clarify, the only difference if you change will be in your download allowance, which will go from 15GB 9:00am to midnight plus 65GB midnight to 9:00am (i.e. a total of 80GB p.m.) to a total of 25GB p.m. irrespective of when you download. Which suits you better will depend on how much allowance you need and how late you go to bed!
